Who You Are:

The Social Media Specialist is a creative, innovative, motivated individual who leverages their graphic design, video, and writing skills to support the organization’s goals and objectives on social media and other digital platforms. You will focus on achieving and sustaining results for the following objectives:

  • Manage our online presence to creatively communicate the mission, vision, values of the organization.
  • Ensure our digital presence informs and engages our target audience, generating strong future engagement.
  • Grow our online presence to influence and engage with key audiences, groups, and online communities.
  • Recommend and implement new platforms and tactics that align with our organization’s strategy and business objectives.
  • Analyze and report key metrics and data for all digital platforms to increase overall effectiveness of our online communication.

Your Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead social media content creator (assisting with photography, copywriting, graphic design, and video editing/production as needed), including managing all content calendars for social media channels, as well as the coordination, creation and posting for all social media channels.
  • Define and implement social media strategies to increase visibility, engagement, acquisition, and traffic.
  • Effectively support the growth of digital communication platforms (social media, websites, internal communications app, newsletters, etc.).
  • Support oversight of brand and messaging across all digital platforms to ensure consistency and engage target audiences.
  • Collaborate with Communications Team to create a social media marketing strategy to guide the development of a comprehensive, integrated strategy for the digital channels of the organization.
  • Research and stay up to date on best practices for digital including trends, new technology, and effective strategies to reach people online, and advise Communications Director on digital media needs.
  • Support website management including edits, regular review website for improvements and updates, and new ideas for increased website presence.
  • Capture and share images and video in real time for events, weekend services, and special initiatives.
  • Build our social media engagement by communicating with followers, responding to messages and comments, and encouraging staff to share. Monitor online reviews, posts, and comments, responding quickly with thoughtful, engaging replies.
  • Analyze and report on performance of digital channels and effectiveness of all strategies.
  • Proactively participate in meetings; work collaboratively; consistently contribute creative ideas and solutions; and provide support as needed on all communications projects.
  • Identify value-added opportunities to engage in organization-wide initiatives which support brand consistency.
  • Support communications department initiatives and key priorities as needed.

Your Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s Degree (Bachelor’s degree – preferred)
  • Minimum two years of professional experience in Social Media, Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, or related activities, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in social media platforms (such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and YouTube) with strong understanding of best practices, different types of messaging, paid campaigns, and analytics.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Proficient with Design and Video Editing tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.
  • Graphic design, copywriting, video, and/or photography experience strongly preferred.
